Led by Alison Talbot, Blake Lapthorn and Charis Hingorani, Stroke Association, the morning will focus on Assessment Level 2 with the afternoon on Assessment Level 3.
The first run of 2012 for this essential course for all those entering the legacy profession.

This two day course led by Adam Buckles, British Red Cross / ILM Membership Director and Nichola Sims (ILM Training Manager) will cover day to day issues that new legacy officers will face, covering the basics of Probate Law and charity legacy administration.

Taught in a very relaxed manner, the first day will look at the law underpinning the work of a Legacy Officer, together with charity specific issues.

Day 2 will focus on working through a case file, tackling the administration of an estate at your charity head on, and dealing with all the problems you'll come up against in the course of your work.
A revised programme for 2012 for this popular course run by the team from Turcan Connell Solicitors.

Topics to be covered include:

* Scots law and Devolution

* Validity of Wills & Relevant court actions

* Recovering Assets

* Legal Rights/Co-habitants Rights

* Scottish Property Law & Potential Litigation

* Charities in Scotland

* Complaints against Solicitors & Solicitors Costs

* Costs of Litigation

 A half day looking at how to secure and record added value on legacy income, with the second half of the day looking at legacy forecasting.

Looking at what the terms mean, what trust funds should contain and how to manage a charity's interest, these course is essential for those who are currently treading water in this area and want to ensure their charity's interests are not being threatened or damaged in any way.

Giving an overview of the whole administrative process from death to finalisation of the administration, the course benefits working relations in any charity through a shared knowledge and appreciation of what is actually involved in legacy administration and what legacy fundraisers need to be aware of when contacting potential legatees.This very popular event returns to the CBI Conference Centre oncve again for the usual mix of legal updates, topical issues and networking. The next run of 2012 for this essential course for all those entering the legacy profession.

The next step in the ILM Core programme for those who have completed the Beginners' course or who may have come to the charity sector from a non-contentious probate background.

Day 1 of the course is led by Alison Talbot and Catherine Paget of Blake Lapthorn Solicitors with an introduction to Contentious Probate and dealing with solicitors.

Day 2 is led by the ILM Training Team looking at property, ex gratia payments and saving charitable gifts.
The annual chance to attend this essential course which runs alongside the ILM Core Programme to give all ILM members a fighting chance at understanding Inheritance Tax!

Led by the team from Wilsons LLP and looking at when and why it is incurred, together with correct apportionment, this course is essential not only for newer members of ILM but also longer standing ones who may be grateful for a recap.
Aimed at ILM members who have entered the charity sector from private practice as well as other solo practitioners and legacy team leaders.

The annual look at building on your basic IHT knowledge to look morfe closely at more advanced topics such as the various Reliefs available and anything added or changed by the Government during 2011 and led as usual by Gaynor Jackson of Speechly Bircham.Two days to include a day of contentious probate with Peter Steer and James Aspden of Wilsons LLP, together with another day led by Helen Hoare (Age UK, Chair ILM) looking at the issues surrounding legacy administration and more technical areas of both probate and management and Gaynor Jackson of Speechly Bircham Solicitors looking at niche areas such intestacy and indemnities.
